The Ongoing Revelations of Kathryn Rose

Note from KR:
I am obviously too busy to Blog right now, between my concert schedule and two young kids (age 4 and 1), but please follow me at my Facebook fanpage and Twitter. I update those often! When I can, I will Blog again because I love to write. All past entries are still up for those who haven't been here before.

Blog Description:

What began as a personal make-work project while on Sarah McLachlan's 2004 Afterglow World Tour soon evolved into a popular online diary. People have enjoyed Kathryn's prose writing so much they've told her she should write a book, and maybe she will!

Feel free to read this Blog from the beginning:

It's A Boy! Now Get Back To Work

April 10th, 2009

As previously announced, I had my second baby three weeks early on March 18. He's a beautiful baby boy named Ivor.

In the three years that have passed since the birth of our daughter Miranda I temporarily forgot what it's like to have a newborn in the house, but the last few weeks of caring for Ivor have brought back a lot of Miranda-memories and tricks and techniques. Little things I used to do with Miranda are coming back to me now, like putting the baby blanket over the baby's back when burping, so that you can lay the baby down on the blanket for easier swaddling... stuff like that.

I am working in the studio tomorrow afternoon and must go review the 6 songs I'm singing backups on while my 2 (two!!) children are napping, so this is a shortie blog today.

Just before I go, speaking of work, I did end up doing that Alan Frew & Friends show with the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony on April 1 & 2. I had been unsure whether I could do it, as my baby due date was April 4.

When Ivor came early and the worst of my recovery became the case of bronchitis that hit me right after, I went to the doctor, got an inhaler, packed up my whole family, set up camp for them in the hotel and ran in and out to breastfeed and do the show for 2 nights.

On this show I sang backups on "Nova Heart" and "Romantic Traffic" with The Spoons, "Rise Up" and "Dancing At The Feet Of The Moon" with Lorraine Segato of Parachute Club, "I Will Take Care Of You" with Amy Sky, "This" with Marc Jordan, six of Alan Frew's hits (ex-Glass Tiger), and my solo song was "A New Day Has Come", accompanied by Stephan Moccio who wrote the hit for Celine Dion with Aldo Nova.

It was a little crazy to go do a big show exactly 2 weeks after giving birth, but it all worked out and I had a lot of fun.

Here are some pics.

Comments about this entry:

Two weeks post-partum I barely knew my name. I am thoroughly impressed. So glad you were feeling good so soon after the birth. I hope all my newborn tricks come back to me when #2 comes along. #2 is no more than an idea (or nightmare) at the moment so I've got time to try to remember everything. Continued health and happiness to you all!
